NMCI / Election stuff

Wednesday, October 27th, 2004

Sorry for the lack of updates.. been busy as a bee and now with NMCI, I can’t do updates from work. Had a good meeting at work with logistics group and looking to see if we can work together on a mutual project.

Thank God that its less than a week until the election. I’m sick of this election crap.

Its almost as bad as the Borg on Star Trek NG

Saturday, October 16th, 2004

Well, they didn’t get around to getting me assimilated until yesterday afternoon, LATE afternoon! Things weren’t as bad as I thought, but still not great. I still have to ask “mother, may I” to install software, and my computer is behind a NAT firewall (Network Address Translation) so it cannot be accesable from the outside! Speeds are a lot slower, but not as bad as people said it could be (then again I didn’t test it at peak times) so who knows what will happen between 9 AM and 3 PM when I want to do a search on Goggle!

Sung to the tune of YMCA

Wednesday, October 13th, 2004

Today’s the big day… Everybody sing.. N-M-C-I…. N-M-C-I (sung to the tune of “YMCA” by the Village People). Yesterday someone came from the “data migration” team and created two ZIP files on my hard drive with my data… well, I could have done that myself! :-)

So if I bitch and moan more than usual tomorrow, you know that I’ve been assimilated, just like the Borg!

Oh, tonight’s another great debate… yawn.

Congrats Brian & Andrea

Congrats to Brian and Andrea! Hope your marriage goes well. Diana and I had fun attending and we look forward to seeing you in the future!

Dumb and Dumber

Friday, October 8th, 2004

Dumb and Dumber (Bush & Kerry) are debating yet again. Why bother watching? They both lie and change their stories constantly. Don’t like either one. Wish we had McCain instead of Bushy. Bush admits that there weren’t any WMDs but he says that kicking Saddam’s a$$ was the right thing to do (I agree). We all know he was just finishing the job that his father SHOULD have done back in 1991. If you think that Herman Munster the flip-flop is gonna be better, think again. His strategy for national security scares me. Going to the inept United Nations to ask them permission? Yeah, right. I think its time we kick the UN out of the US. If they want a place to meet, go to Geneva, Switzerland. The UN is the sorriest sack of crap.

Also, if people think Kerry will pull our troops out of Iraq right away, think again. If anyone with any military background will tell you, if we pull out right now, Iraq will implode. We can’t think of what has happened in the past, we must deal with what we have now. If we leave now, they will have a civil war (what’s civil about civil war?) and the country will just go back into a dictatorship, probably someone as bad if not worse than Saddam. What we’ve been trying to accomplish by setting up a new democratic government for the people by the people will never happen if we leave now. So we must finish the job, and I think Kerry would do that even if he doesn’t like the idea. So all these people looking for a “regime change” are thinking Kerry will call the troops home as soon as he takes office, you’ve got another thing coming!

Getting ready to sing

Wednesday, October 6th, 2004

Well, the time has come. The fat lady is just about ready to sing. I’m about to be assimilated (like the Borg in Star Trek TNG) in to the new computing network at work. This is something we’ve been ALL dreading for the last 3 to 4 years. Next Wednesday (Oct. 13) is the cut over date. Time to get ready for hell. All I’ve heard are horror stories. Systems never work right. Systems are always down. No E-mail. Need to get permissions to install software. What a pain in the a$$. And it comes from the VERY top, can’t change it, just cope with it.

Debate…yawn

Friday, October 1st, 2004

The first debate is behind us. I didn’t bother to watch. I figured out who I’m voting for already, so why bother. I’m not a fan of GWB, but I don’t like the bleeding hearts either. I really wish McCain was president and not Dubbya. Then I’d actually be voting FOR somebody instead of AGAINST someone else.
