Virginia DeMolay can kiss my ass!

Sunday, July 30th, 2006

Just got back from Virginia DeMolay Conclave. It will be the LAST one I will EVER attend. Too much political corruption for election of Deputy State Master Councilor. I’m almost positive that the advisors from the various chapters influenced the vote, something they are NOT supposed to do. I’m pretty sure which ones did it too, but obviously I can’t prove it.

Poison Ivy is not a good thing

I have a pretty severe case of poison ivy. I went to see the doctor today to get some medication. He prescribed Prednisone, a steroid. Hopefully it will keep it under control - REAL soon. And I thought taking down that vine that was crawling all along the foundation of the house was a GOOD thing…

Its supposed to work, dammit!

Sorry for not updating the Blog recently. Been busy. One of the main reasons I’ve fallen behind is that I ordered parts for a new computer and attempted to put them together and get it to work. I’ve torn out my hair (or what’s left of it) trying to figure out what the hell is going on. It seems that the new AMD motherboards that support the current DDR2 (Double Data Rate version 2) memory don’t support the DDR2 memory very well. In fact, I’ve found on Google that a number of people are unhappy and are just as upset. I’ve spent the better part of a week trying to figure out what was going on. Was it the motherboard that was bad? Hard drive? Drivers for the hard drive (its a new SATA II drive)? Memory? CPU? Other stuff that didn’t cross my mind? I even had my friend Steve over to help me put it together. He was stumped too. MEMTEST at that time didn’t show anything wrong (it later did). So finally, I found out if you slowed down the memory in the BIOS that you can get it to work, just not as fast as it is supposed to run. So far so good. Of course, it took my three times to get Windows XP to install correctly (that’s after I “fixed” the memory issue!).

I bought Nero 7, supposedly the best CD burning software on the market. Thank goodness I only paid $8 for it and not $80 (suggested price). What a bunch of buggy crap. Instead, I installed Roxio 8. It works rather well (a learning curve over Roxio 5, but at least it works!).
