Can’t they just lose the key?

Sadly, the Buried Car thing turned out to be a bust. Buried 50 years ago today, the 1957 Plymouth Belvadere that was buried in Tulsa, OK turned out to have rusted severely in its underground vault. The car is basically worthless now. I was hoping for a car that looked like it came straight from the showroom floor, but it doesn’t suprise me that they didn’t know how to preserve it well. First of all, all concrete things like that will leak over time. I haven’t yet seen a concrete wall that won’t leak! Second, they didn’t seal the car very well. Plastics weren’t as prevelent as they are today. Today, they could have just sealed the whole darn car in a plastic bag and vacuum sealed it. Technology has really advanced in the last 50 years. Oh well. I doubt anybody would ever attempt a stunt like this ever again.
Bob Barker hosted his last “The Price Is Right” show today (taped on June 6th). Very nice that they played the first three pricing games as the last three pricing games (in reverse order). Too bad the guy who played Any Number didn’t win. But, as is traditional with Bob, he signed off with very little fanfare, as he wanted it. Goodbye everybody!
