About the blog

This is my blog. I used to call it the “Daily Rant” when I updated the blog about every day. But doing it by hand was such a pain in the neck. Editing raw HTML code is for the birds. I still do it when I have to, but its a real pain in the ass.

I know there have been software that did this blogging thing for a while, but felt it was too difficult to use, especially with a Windows based web server (I have to use it for my ASP scripts that Mat wrote for the Telnet BBS Guide database to work).

But I looked at WordPress and it said all I needed was MySQL and PHP. Well, my host had these. Sure enough, after going through the 5-minute install page, here it is. Not too bad, so far. Got a lot of configuring to do, so away I go. Welcome to Dave’s Blog (formerly known as the Daily Rant).
